September 30th 2023
We are delighted to announce, as of September 16th 2023, our mentorship with the esteemed Katsumi Tamaki 10th dan Hanshi and his family art of Shinjin-Ryu Okinawa-Te (心仁流沖縄手).
Katsumi Tamaki, born in Urasoe, Okinawa, who moved to the UK in 1981 from mainland Japan, is a martial artist with a wealth of experience in the Okinawan martial arts. A traditional Okinawan deeply rooted in history and culture. Hanshi Tamaki's dedication and expertise in this discipline have made him a respected figure in the martial arts community, and we are honored to have such a respected master as our mentor.
Shinjin-Ryu Okinawa-Te embodies the rich heritage and values of Okinawan culture. It emphasizes self-discipline, physical conditioning, and the development of both mental and physical strength. This art has had a profound impact on the lives of those who practice it, promoting personal growth, resilience, and a deep connection to Okinawan traditions.
My friendship with Katsumi Tamaki originally began decades ago in 1981, when my journey into the world of Shinjin-Ryu Okinawa-Te first took root. However, the sands of time led us on divergent paths. I visited Tamaki sensei's dojo on many occasion, and I had maintained a continuous connection with him ever since training together at his Bracknell-based dojo in Berkshire during the early 1980s, but it's only recently that I've had the privilege of rekindling a deeper connection.
This reunion has reinvigorated our commitment to preserving and promoting the Okinawan art's that have long been a part of our collective heritage.
Aligning with Katsumi Tamaki and the Shinjin-Ryu Okinawa-Te Kyokai reflects our commitment to promoting the Okinawan martial arts and preserving its authenticity.
Sincerely,
Adam Carter8th dan Hanshi
