September 30th 2023

We are delighted to announce, as of September 30th 2023, our mentorship with the esteemed Katsumi Tamaki sensei, 10th dan, and his art of Shinjin-Ryu Okinawa-Te (心仁流沖縄手).
Katsumi Tamaki, born in Urasoe, Okinawa, and who moved to the UK in 1981 from mainland Japan, is a martial artist with a wealth of experience in the Okinawan martial arts. He is a traditional Okinawan, deeply rooted in history and culture. Tamaki sensei's dedication and expertise in this discipline have made him a respected figure in the martial arts community, and we are honoured to have such a master as our mentor.
Shinjin-Ryu Okinawa-Te embodies the rich heritage and values of Okinawan culture. It emphasizes self-discipline, physical conditioning, and the development of both mental and physical strength. This art has had a profound impact on those who practice it, promoting personal growth, resilience, and a deep connection to Okinawan traditions.
My friendship with Katsumi Tamaki sensei began decades ago, in 1981, when my journey into the world of Okinawan karate first took root. Although our paths diverged over the years, I continued to maintain a connection with Tamaki sensei, visiting him at his home and dojo and training together at his Bracknell-based dojo in Berkshire, UK, during the early 1980s. It is only recently that I’ve had the privilege of rekindling a deeper connection.

Collaborating with Katsumi Tamaki sensei has renewed our dedication to Okinawan karate and the distinctive approach he developed, enriching the way we train and pass these principles on.
Sincerely,
